Who is TMPL?
TMP Lab is an newly accredited with ISO/IEC 17025:2017
The Mission
TMPL’s mission is to offer the the best quality of service from the an schedule, quality and safety aspect and be the one stop solution provider in the industry in Malaysia
What is the meaning of torque calibration?
It is the comparison of a torque wrench against a known standard in order to establish it’s accuracy or error.
What is the meaning of torque adjustment?
It is to correct the torque output back to the manufacturer’s specification or under the maximum permissible deviation.
What is the meaning of torque uncertainty?
The calibration results can vary when measured used multiple times. Uncertainty helps determine the reliability of the torque tool by comparing the recorded value to it’s real value.
When it is needed to re-calibrate a torque wrench?
Industry standards recommends the recalibration to be done every 5000 cycles or every 12 months. Sometimes the user’s quality control processes require more recalibration that the recommended standard.
What is an accredited torque laboratory?
Labs who have been accredited by standard Malaysia to ISO17025 is equivalent to ISO9001 but specific for laboratory.
Are all service and repair centers accredited laboratories?
No, they may offer service and calibration accordance to ISO6789 but not automatically accredited. TMPL is a accredited Laboratory in Malaysia.
What is the difference between ISO6789:2003 and the new ISO6789:2017?
The new ISO6789:2017 required establishing more uncertainties and it is more focused for ISO17025 accredited laboratories.
Is it necessary to wound back to zero after use?
It is good practice to wound wrench back to the minimum value of the scale after use, especially on wrenches that are not regularly used and or where no checking device are available. It is also important to never wind it back beyond the minimum value of the scale.
Is it necessary to calibrate a torque wrench if the ratchet head gets broken and it is replaced?
Although many times the torque wrench won’t get deviated when the ratchet head breaks, we will recommend to check if the deviation is still within the maximum permissible error after replacing the ratchet head.
Is it necessary to calibrate a torque wrench if it is disassembled?
Yes it is.
Why is calibration important?
With calibration, we are able to ensure the drift of the instrument is minimized and maintain the capability of the instrument to provide the accurate measured applications.
Therefore it is critical that all instruments are calibrated and test at appropriate intervals. Without calibration, there will be an elevated risk of uncertainty with the use of aforementioned instrument.
